Employees of the Jerkstore Report to the Unemployment Line!

Poetry in motion…it’s the only way I can describe it. Last night the Sex Panthers tackled the Employees of the Jerkstore in a head to head, balls out, kickball showdown. Emerging victorious from the dust of the field was once again, The Sex Panthers by Odeon! We won the first game 7 to 2 and 3 to 2 in the second extending our season record to 6 and 0. One notable factor from last night’s game was the addition of Dirt Dawg and Dirrty Girl to our team. Dirrty girl, while very slow, was full of spunk, wit, and enthusiasm. Dirt Dawg proved to be a worthy ringer and pulled his weight quite nicely. Both have been invited back for future endeavors.

I know there is no crying in Kickball, but the Sex Panthers executed a triple play that brought a tear to my eye last night. It was like looking at the Sistine Chapel, or listening to Beethoven’s 5th, or gazing into the immensity of the Grand Canyon.

Sex Panthers…you complete me.

Ciaciaro Race Report #4

Nothing too notable occurred in this race. Once again, we had the Wolverine Cannon cocked, loaded, and firing. I made a few feeble attempts to punish some Canadians, but being so fresh off the Lumberjack 100, my legs didn’t have too much to show for. However, there were a few breaks (one of which saw the back end of the field only to get caught later). The race came down to a sprint finish. Naturally, Terry Palmer, Paul Eugini, and Danielle DeFrancheschi (straight off his return from France) took over. Luke Cavender got pushed over a bit in the sprint by one of the Hooter Cycling Team’s lead out train drop offs. This sent Luke into a belligerent tirade that made himself and our team look like a bunch of absent minded, hot headed teenagers. The young grasshopper will learn some day…we hope.

We did still manage to put Joe Feng, Scott Kroske, Luke Cavender, and myself in the top ten. However, no podium spots this week.

Like a child on Christmas Eve

Just got home from Ciaciaro (report to follow). However, I am giddy as a schoolgirl right now and can barely sleep because less than 24 hours from now is my second league kickball game! Man I have really been bitten by the bug! Reports have it that there are many teammates missing so I am really going to have to give it my all. No chaffed ass from riding the pine this week! Currently we are 4-0...I intend to make it 6-0 tomorrow evening. I am contemplating not washing my jersey all season for good luck, what do you think?

What ever happened to Paul Pfeiffer?

In 1988, when The Wonder Years first aired, the world fell in love with little Paul Pfeiffer. Since the show's cancellation, there have been many rumors about the whereabouts of the actor who played Paul. Some speculated that he is Marilyn Manson, others believe he owns a goat farm in North Dakota. However, finally the rumors can be put to rest. It has been recently discovered that Paul is living in Royal Oak, Michigan; and is an avid Mountain Biker.

Lumberjack 100 Report

After arguably one of Dirt Dawg’s best 3-hour filibusters on school improvement for the 07/08 school year, I was off to the races. Stopping to pick up Angela and Scott Hes, we headed up to Manistee for a weekend of MTB fun.

Scott Hes had been put in charge of arranging the hotel accommodations. Let’s just say he really outdid himself this time putting us up in one of the finest five star cabins Northern Michigan had to offer. Angela was delighted!

Overall, the race went quite well. Since this race was a virgin attempt for me, I probably went out a little too conservative. I rode most of the first lap with the Dolpenator. Once again, Alex seemed to validate his G.P.S. title (this time: German Pacing System). After awhile Alex got sick of me talking mindless babble behind his wheel and took off. I continued to settle in at a comfortable pace.

In the end, I ended up coming in 25th, with a finishing time of 8hr25min, not too bad for a “roadie”. My goal for the race was to crack the top 15. I judged most of my race pace on times posted the past two years. Going by that, my time would of cracked the top ten both years. However, I think the cooperative weather, added field depth, and reversing the course direction added up to a faster race this year. I did have a great time and learned a few things as well for next year: 1. Set my bike up in a bit more relaxed position. 2. Don’t talk so much when on Alex’s wheel. 3. Get a FS bike! 4. Ride Faster. 5. Don’t let Scott Hes reserve the hotel!

The after party was a blast! Founder’s Brewery sponsored the race and provided bottomless cups of loud mouth soup, which I took full advantage of. Angela and Scott had to drag me out after we noticed we were the last people there.

W.C.I.F.A.:
My hats are off to Mike Simonsen for smoking the course in 7 hours flat and leading for the first 60 miles! In addition, huge props to Robert Herriman for virtually shaving 30 minutes off his time from last year.
