24-9 all the way. I know a few guys who went to that and loved it. Ever done a 24 mtb event before? If not i'd suggest do a local MI one just so you know the gear, your body, and all the 'wtf' crap that comes with such a long race :)
you are a much better rider than i, so it might not be an issue for you.
