Sex Panthers Get Tea Bagged by the N.A.D.S.
Last night, the Sex Panthers played the N.A.D.S. (Non Athletic Dysfunctional Society). The N.A.D.S. are currently ranked 1st in the league. After being informed this week by league officials that we are sitting third overall, the Sex Panthers went into this double- header hungry for a N.A.D. mauling with our razor sharp talons.
Unfortunately, we had our hinnies handed to us. We lost 7-9 in the first and were mercied in the second. My parents, big brother, and three nephews were all in the crowd as they watched us run around like buffoons with two left feet and struggle like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.
I feel I let my family down…my team down…and my country. I went to bed last night with nightmare chants in my head of Go N.A.D.S....Go N.A.D.S....Go N.A.D.S.
As a pledge of retribution, I am reporting to the kicking cage every morning at 6:00 am this week to train up for next week's show down against Ballz Deep.
I’m a Cowboy, on a steel horse I ride…I’m wanted dead or alive!
This past Wednesday Ang and I celebrated her birthday with a little horseplay. We went equine galloping at Maybury Stable. However, having frequented Maybury on the MTB for several years now, I have grown accustomed to a faster pace. The trusty steeds of Maybury were VERY slow. For the most part we simply walked at leisurely pace with a few instances of trotting. As more of a “speed oriented” fella, I decided to fall to the back of the equine peloton and get some interval workouts in with old Mr. Slick (that was the name of my horse). Every so often I would pull on the reigns of Slick, bring him to a halt, let the pack get about 100 feet away or so, and then give him a swift kick to light a fire under his butt. This was pretty fun; I was starting to feel that the horse was benefiting from my Chris Charmical influenced riding session. Everything was all fun and games until the teenage trail guide yelled at me and informed me that what I was doing was a good way “to get bucked”. I informed her that it was ok because I was a Cowboy…she didn’t buy it.

A Community Loss
As I’ve gotten older I have come to realize that one is only as good as his fellow community. My main attraction to the sport of cycling is the sense of community it embodies. I could put all the racing aside, team affiliations, the latest and greatest technological innovations, egos, etc…when it all comes down to it, it is the camaraderie I get from riding with people who share my same passion that fuels my continued involvement in the sport. In essence, the sport and those involved have become a second family to me.
Last week, our community suffered a great loss in the passing of Patrick Robb’s brother Scott. I had never actually met or rode with Scott, but have heard many stories of his legacy and his talent on the bike. I know that in this time of mourning for Patrick and the rest of the cycling community that knew Scott, we can take comfort and solace in the fact that as a group we lift each other up and support each other.
The next time you turn the cranks over, do it in remembrance of Scott.

Sex Panthers Teammate Breaks Hand While Beating Off In The Shower!
No Joke! I just got word last night that one of my teammates (Cory) actually somehow broke his hand during last Friday’s kickball game against “Off In The Shower”. Imagine the humiliation of having to explain this to his friends and family. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for Cory.
Sant’Onorio Festival Bike Race Report:
On Sunday I headed out to race with our neighbors of the North. In a nutshell…the race was sluggish and VERY HOT. At times, it seemed that we were racing underwater. The field was represented with a few powerhouses from Toronto that saw to it that there weren’t any lasting breaks. The race came down to a sprint finish. I was sitting third coming into the last turn and took a bad line and ended up 8th. Overall, it wasn’t a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
